Characteristics
The giant white bird of paradise (Strelitzia nicolai) is a large South African evergreen with broad paddle-shaped leaves on woody trunks, forming imposing clumps. It bears striking white-and-blue bird-like flowers. It wants lots of light (full sun outdoors, bright indirect indoors), rich, well-drained soil and regular water. It is frost-tender and reaches 4-8 metres.
