The Golden Barrel Cactus (Echinocactus grusonii) is a spherical Mexican cactus famous for the brilliant golden spines covering its green body. It grows very slowly in full sun on sandy well-drained soil. A long-lived plant, it reaches its adult diameter of 60-90 cm in about 30 years.
