Characteristics
The Persian silk tree (Albizia julibrissin), or mimosa, is a fast-growing deciduous tree with a broad umbrella crown, fern-like bipinnate leaves that fold at night, and fluffy pink powderpuff flowers in summer. It wants full sun and fertile, well-drained soil; once established it tolerates drought. It is hardy to about -15 °C and reaches 5-12 metres.
