Characteristics
The tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), or yellow poplar, is a large, fast-growing deciduous tree with distinctive four-lobed leaves that turn golden in autumn. In late spring it bears greenish-yellow-orange tulip-shaped flowers. It wants full sun and deep, moist, fertile, slightly acidic soil. It is hardy and reaches 20-35 metres: for large spaces only.
